Investor Visa D8
- The Investor Visa D8 is granted to the foreigner or the foreign Corporation that invests a legal capital to Korea by establishing a Foreign Invested Corporation as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
- The Investor Visa D8 is a business visa granted to (1) the foreigner having a Foreign Invested Corporation (FIC), or (2) a foreign corporation that dispatches its executives and employees to the Foreign Invested Corporation in Korea.

Under the policy of actively attracting foreign investment, the foreign investment is granted incentives as well as benefits such as Permanent Residence Visa (F5), Long-Term Residence Visa (F2), Tax Deduction on Income Tax, Acquisition Tax, Registration Tax, Comprehensive Real Estate Tax, Voting Rights, Use of Express Immigration Gate, and Visa Fee Exemption if qualified.
1. Residence Visa F2, Permanent Residence Visa (F5), or Korean Citizenship can be granted.
- The Investor Visa D8 holder can apply to Residence Visa F2, a Permanent Residence Visa F5 or Korean Citizenship if legal stay duration, Income and other requirements are qualified.

- The Investor Visa D8 holder can purchase real estates such as apartments and offices without any restrictions, take out loans with the
purchased real estates as collateral, and transfer business income and real estate sales funds to overseas if the requirement is fulfilled.
3. Attending in a school is allowed.
- The Investor Visa D8 holders can study in a school without a student visa or permission in Korea.
4. Signing up for the major social insurances is allowed.
- The Investor Visa D8 holder are covered by the 4 major social insurances such as Health Insurance, Unemployment Insurance, National Pension, Industrial Accident Insurance.
5. The family members get the same benefits.
- The Investor Visa holder’s spouse, underage children, and unmarried children can receive the same benefits.

The Requirements of the Investor Visa D8 are divided into the Investment requirement and the professional requirement. However, individual
investors only need to meet the investment requirements.
1. Investment Requirement
- (1) A Foreign Invested Corporation (FIC) as Foreign Direct Investment
must be established by transferring capital from overseas to Korea. ※ Any domestic funds in Korea are not recognized as the proper capital.
- (2) Minimum Legal Capital is KRW100,000,000 (USD77,000)
2. Professionals Requirement
- The Executives or employees dispatched to the Foreign Invested Corporation (FIC) in Korea must prove that they are professionals.

Q & A
Why is Investor Visa D8 not issued or not permitted ?
A D8 visa is issued or permitted if a Certificate of Foreign Invested Corporation is issued under normal condition. the D8 visa is not allowed or issued due to one of the following problem below.
- 1. if the capital is withdrawn in the legal process.
- 2. if the legal capital is unfairly used or there is no proper evidences such as legal contracts, legal tax receipts, etc.
- 3. if you fail to prove that the legal capital is from your own sources.
- 4. if you or the FIC is imposed a penalty in violation of the Laws.
How many employees can the Foreign company dispatch to the FIC in Korea ?
- The foreign company that establishes a Foreign Invested Corporation (FIC) in Korea company can dispatch its executives and employees to the FIC in Korea. Although one professional employee can be dispatched for every KRW100 million of the legal Capital, the number of employees dispatched may be increased by submitting the necessary documents.

- Investor Visa D8 can be applied to (1) the Korean Embassy in the Head Office of the Foreign Company or (2) the Immigration Office in
Korea.

1. The Name of Legal Capital Remittance
- The legal Capital must be transferred in the name of the foreign investor, and the foreign investor must submit the company documents
or the Family Relation Certificate if the Legal Capital Remittance is arranged by any company name or any family name, provided that any
Legal Capital transferred under other persons’ names are considered as the proper legal capital. However, if foreign investor invest more than KRW 300 million, such legal capital transmitted under the names of parents is acceptable.
2. Proof of Legal Capital Sources
- All foreign investors are required to submit the Proof of Legal Capital Sources that he/she own. Those funds from bank loans or borrowings are not considered as proper legal capitals.
3. Foreign Investment Report
- All foreign investors are required to report their investment in advance prior to Legal Capital Remittance. Otherwise, 50% of the fund transferred in to Korea may be collected as income tax if they fail to get a investment permission and re-remit the funds to overseas.
