The Evaluation of Permanent Residence Visa F5

The F5 applicant is evaluated for the following 4 Requirements and would be exempted from all or some of the Requirements below, depending on the conditions of the applicant.

1. Requirements of Good Conduct

• (1) No violations of the Law, and no records of punishment.
• (2) Certificate of Non Criminal Record Required from Home Country and any countries where you stayed for more than six months.

※ However, the Certificate of Non Criminal Record is exempted for those who submitted the Certificate to the Immigration and have not stayed abroad for more than three months.

2. Requirement of Financial Capability

• (1) An Income Certificate from NTX is required.
• (2) Min. GNI is required.

3. Requirement of KIIP

• (1) The Certificate of 5th Level on Korea Immigration and Integration Program (KIIP) is required or
• (2) Min. 60 points in the Comprehensive Test are required on Immigration Test or Naturalization Test.

4. Requirement of Legal Stay Duration

• (1) Min. 5 years of Legal Stay is required.
• (2) However, the Legal Stay Duration is shortened or exempted for some cases

Persons not Allowed for Permanent Residence Visa F5

Law Violators are not allowed to apply for Permanent Residence Visa F5 for a certain period specified.

• 1. Not passed 7 years from the departure date by a Eviction Order.
• 2. Not passed 5 years from the departure date by a Departure Order.
• 3. Not passed 5 years from the date of violation for Article 7 or 12 of 「Immigration Control Act」.
• 4. Not passed 5 years from the date for Imprisonment Sentence.
• 5. Violates three times on the Immigration Control Act in 5 years.
• 6. Not passed 3 years from the payment date for a Fine.
• 7. Total Penalty of KRW 7,000,000 in 3 years.
• 8. Persons who are considered to harm the security and the interests of the Republic of Korea.

• 1. 30 points on Required Item & total 50 points
• 2. 20-29 points on Required Item & total 100 points.
• 3. 10-19 points on Required Item & total 100 points with 1 year stay.

How much income do I need to apply for Permanent Residence Visa F5 ?

1. You need to have the GNI income, except for F5-1 & R&D applicants required GNI 2 times income.

Do I have to complete Level 5 in KIIP to apply for F5 ?

1. You need to complete the Level 5 in KIIP or pass the Comprehensive Tests by getting min. 60 points. However, if you plan to invest or have special talents, you are exempted from KIIP Requirement.

Will spouse and children be automatically granted F5 if the father obtain Permanent residence Visa F5?

1. If you are an investor approved by the Immigration, your family members are automatically granted F5 with you. Except Investor’s family members, other family members can apply to F5 after 2 years by exempting Income Certificate. However, they still required to KIIP certificate.

Can I apply for Korean Citizenship without F5 ?

1. You are not allowed to apply to Korean Citizenship directly if you do not have F5.
